A Voice Rooted in Heritage, Raised for the World Rute Mbangwa is more than a vocalist—she’s a cultural force. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, her musical journey began with CHIPAWO, where she honed her craft in traditional and contemporary performance. Over the years, she has evolved into a powerhouse of Afro-jazz, blending indigenous rhythms with global influences to create a sound that is both timeless and fresh.

Rute’s career spans over two decades, marked by critically acclaimed albums, international tours, and collaborations with iconic artists like Oliver Mtukudzi, Kunle Ayo, and Judith Sephuma. Her performances have lit up stages from Harare to Norway, Algeria,Germany,Mozambique,Malawi,South Africa, and Namibia—each show a celebration of African identity and musical excellence.

Professional Experience

Educator & Mentor

Beyond the stage, Rute is a passionate music educator. Through The Note Mobile Music School, she brings music education to communities, schools, and individuals—empowering the next generation of artists with tools for expression and growth. Her workshops and adjudication work have shaped choirs, soloists, and music programs across Zimbabwe and beyond.
